NYSC seeks financial support as Lagos donates 10 hectares camp

The Lagos State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Mr. Cyril Akhanemhe has appealed to stakeholders and the general public to assist in financing the ten hectares of camp site donated by the Lagos State government.

Speaking at the swearing in of 2686 corps members of the first stream of the 2015 Batch ‘B’, held at Ipaja Camp yesterday, Akhanemhe said: “Now that the State Government has given us a camp site, I urge all stateholders and well meaning Nigerians to join hands with Lagos State for quick construction of a befitting camp for corps members.”
The multi-million naira ten hectares of land situated at Ikorodu, according to him, will take the combined efforts of government and private sectors to give a befitting camp.
Speaking at the event, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode who was represented by Mr. Tinubu Hassan, Ministry of Special Duty, Lagos pledged to do everything possible to ensure that corps members in Lagos State get a befitting accommodation.
“We will do everything within our capacity to ensure a conducive and secure environment during and after your orientation course.”
Ambode who urged corps members to participate in camp activities, noted that orientation course is the foundation of the NYSC service year to their fatherland.
Meanwhile, the State Coordinator earlier tasked corps members to see their service year as an opportunity to be self employed.
