500,000 NYSC Members Get Skills/Entrepreneurship Training in 3 Years

More than half a million NYSC members have been trained under the scheme's Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) aimed at sharpening and promoting the entrepreneurial interest of young graduates in the last three years since the programme became operational.


The Director-General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General Johnson B. Olawumi, disclosed this in an address to the flag-off of the Graduate Entrepreneurship Fund (GEF) training for corps member jointly sponsored the Bank of Industry and the NYSC, at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Issele-Uku, Delta State.

The NYSC helmsman was represented at the ceremony by the the Corps' Director of Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) propgramme, Mrs Mary Dan Abia.

"The intention of the GEF is in line with the overall mandate of the NYSC SAED Programme which centres on equipping corps members with basic entrepreneurship skills to make them self-reliant and employers of labour.
